Hello and Welcome to Episdoe 141 of Multiverse Tonight, I’m your host Thomas Townley...

Star Trek

Star Trek Day 2021 has come and gone, here’s a breakdown of the biggest news from the show first up, there was a trailer for Star Trek Picard Season Two and we got story details, it looks like Picard must put right an alternate realtor where Earth is a totalitarian government is in charge and he and the crew of the La Sienna must travel back to our present to put it right or risk losing the future forever. Patrick Stewart did confirm that Star Trek: Picard will return for a third season on Paramount+. Star Trek: Picard Season Two premieres in February 2022

Star Trek Strange New Worlds had a panel, and unfortunately no trailer, but they did introduce the cast of the show. Joining Anson Mount’s Pike, Rebecca Romijn’s Number One, and Ethan Pecks bed-headed Spock is Celia Rose Gooding (a Tony nominee for “Jagged Little Pill”) will play Cadet Nyota Uhura, the role first played by Nichelle Nichols on the original “Star Trek” series. Jess Bush (“Playing for Keeps”) is stepping into the role of Nurse Christine Chapel, first played by Roddenberry’s wife Majel Barrett on the original “Star Trek.” And Babs Olusanmokun (“Dune,” “Black Mirror”) is playing Dr. M’Benga, a medical officer first played by Booker Bradshaw on two episodes of the original “Star Trek.”

“Strange New Worlds” will also feature several new characters: Lt. Erica Ortegas, as played by Melissa Navia (“Dietland”); Hemmer, an alien played by Bruce Horak, the first legally blind actor to play a main character on a “Trek” TV series; and La’an Noonien-Singh, whose last name strongly implies she’s related to the infamous Trek villain Khan Noonien Singh, who will be played by Christina Chong (“Doctor Who”). No release date was offered up.

Star Trek Discovery had a trailer and a release date of November 18th. The new season will see Capt. Burnham and crew face an immense gravitational anomaly five light-years across that threatens life in the galaxy. It was also revealed that Adira’s lover Gray will be given a corporeal form in season four.

Star Trek Prodigy had a panel and it will be the next series up premiering on Paramount Plus on October 28th with a one-hour episode. The show will essentially be a chase movie as the kids stumble upon the Protostar and it’s up to Janeway to teach them how to use the ship while the bad guys pursue them to get the ship back.

During the show, Alex Kurtzman teased a possible Starfleet Academy show Saying Quote "I know there's been a lot of conversation about Starfleet Academy, which we are very excited about," unquote He did mention that they are not on a fast track to make the show as they already have five shows.

The Trailers are up on Youtube, Wil Wheaton free.

Hero Collector has announced its celebration of Star Trek’s 55th anniversary. The book, called Star Trek A Celebration is supposed to be the cultivate guide to the making of the Original Series and will be written by Ben Robinson and Ian Spelling and includes 256 pages of brand-new and archival conversations, and 200-plus photos and sketches, including some that are rare and have never-before-seen before. The book hopes to shed new light on the show's actors, writers, directors, production and costume designers, composers, prop builders, visual effects and makeup artists, and more and will give attention to the early fans who campaigned to save the show, plus it includes looks back at the earliest Trek conventions and breakdowns of 12 of the show's key episodes. It will be out on September 21st.

Hero Collector also announced Star Trek Starships 2294 to the Future and Star Trek Designing Starships Deep Space Nine and Beyond, no date on those yet.

Star Trek now has more than 800 episodes, the Lower Decks episode We’ll Always HAve Tom Paris was number 800. Here’s the official tally Star Trek: The Original Series - 79 episodes

Star Trek: The Animated Series - 22 episodes

Star Trek: The Next Generation - 178 episodes

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - 176 episodes

Star Trek: Voyager - 172 episodes

Star Trek: Enterprise - 98 episodes

Star Trek: Discovery - 42 episodes

Star Trek: Lower Decks - 13 episodes

My guess is number 900 will arrive either in 2024 or 2025.

Star Trek Picard Season Two is finished filming and we now know one of the characters that will be appearing in the season, Bosch and Runaways star Annie Wersching will show up as the Borg Queen. Star Wars

Mark Hamill tried an experiment tweeted at him by @LozzaBean12, the proposition was a simple quote @HamillHimself you could just tweet 'Mark Hamill' and you'd get thousands of likes. Unquote  So the actor took the challenge and quoted only his name. Needless to say, that tweet now has 610.7 thousand likes. Not to be outdone, George Takei also tweeted Mark Hamill’s name and has received 47.8 thousand likes.

Star Wars The Book of Boba Fett will hit Disney Plus later this year and producer Robert Rodriguez told Collider that it should exceed the fanbase’s imaginations. Quote “[I] can’t say anything about it at all right now, but it’s coming out in December… Wait until you see what’s coming,". "It’s going to blow your mind. That’s all I can say. I can talk it up all I want because I know it over-delivers. It way over-delivers. People are going to be so pumped when they see it.” unquote

The Book of Boba Fett is expected on the Disney Plus in time for Christmas.

Grogu aka Baby Yoda has been Breaking Bad recently….or rather a Star Wars Mandalorian Baby Yoda toy has The Sheriff of Rutherford County Tennessee recently discovered such a toy with 176 Fentanyl pills. According to Rutherford County Sheriff's Captain Britt Reed, the discovery of the pills - which were made to resemble tablets of Roxicodone, a brand name of the opioid pain medication oxycodone - was made on August 27th. The suspect, Zave Garry of Detroit has since been charged with possession and was out on bond for a similar crime in another county two weeks earlier at the time of his arrest. Rutherford County is located roughly 40 miles southeast of Nashville. Gary was charged with felony possession of Schedule II and Schedule VI drugs and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held on a $150,000 bond due to having been out on bond for a similar crime in Coffee County at the time of his arrest and a hearing for the charges was set for Tuesday, September 7th.

Speaking of The Child a Grogu Funko Pop Baloon will be a part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This year’s parade will be a normal parade with a parade route, masked crowds, and vaccinated participants. The Ballon will have Grogu chasing after a ball.

Geek

Denis Vill-e-neuve is starting the press tour for Dune, but did you know it’s only half a book? That’s right, there’s gonna be a part two. And Mister V is already working on the script for the sequel. He revealed to Gizmodo quote "I would say that I would be fairly ready to go quite quickly now," "Quickly in [terms of] a movie of that size. You still need to make sets and costumes, we are talking about months...But if there's enthusiasm and the movie is greenlit, sooner than later I will say that I will be ready to shoot 2022 for sure...I am ready to go and I would say that I would love to bring it to the screen as soon as possible." unquote. I know what you’re saying, well what if it’s a bomb? Well in a previous interview Mister Director said quote "it would need a really bad outcome at the box office to not have a Dune: Part Two"  So, in other words, it would have to be a total bomb.

Ghostbusters Afterlife has been Delayed at the box office, yet again. But this time just a week, from November 11th to November 19th. Afterlife has bumped Top Gun Maverick which was moved back to next year.

Tanya Fear, a British actress who appeared in a 2018 episode of BBC sci-fi Doctor Who Arachnids in the UK, has been reported missing in Los Angeles.

The 31-year-old Londoner was originally reported as last being seen in The Hollywood Bowl area on Sep. 9. However, it has now been revealed she was spotted at a Trader Joe’s on Santa Monica Boulevard on Sep. 12. Friends and family are urging people to use the #FindTanyaFear hashtag on Twitter to help gather information on her whereabouts, and have set up the dedicated Twitter account @FindTanyaFear to spread word of the actresses’ disappearance. Besides Doctor Who, Fear has appeared in British TV shows such as Endeavour, Spotless, DCI Banks and Midsomer Murders, and also had a role in Kick-Ass 2. She recently started standup comedy.

Long-time voice actor Tom Kane has been forced into early retirement. The voice for many Star Wars and Marvel projects suffered a stroke at the end of last year. His daughter Sam posted on Facebook quote "Because of this stroke my dad has been forced into early retirement," Kane's daughter Sam shared on his Facebook page on Friday. "The damage to his speech center is just too severe. He cannot read well nor get out the words he wants, which is sort of required for voice acting. He has what's called Apraxia which means he has difficulty moving smoothly from one sound, syllable, or word to another. Groping movements like with his jaw, lips, or tongue to make the correct movement for speech sounds are impaired. Essentially he knows exactly what he wants to say, he knows exactly what's going on, but the words are trapped in his head, and when they do come out, it's usually too slurred to understand."Thank God he's an actor and great at charades."I have SO much more to say about this like how many people miss having conversations with him, especially his children and wife. How f--ked up it is that in a split second one of the most talented voice actors ever lost his voice and career," the family statement added. "I'll stop here or else I'll cry and I've already done that like a thousand times this year!! Please feel free to send him letters! I'll be managing this PO Box, please add your email or Instagram handle so I can send pictures to you of my dad receiving your mail! He has also been practicing his signature and would love to start autographing from home!!" unquote Tom voiced roles like  Yoda, the narrator on Star Wars the Bad Vatch, Professor Utonium on the Power Puff Girls, and Admiral Ackbar in The Last Jedi.
