Marvel Comics are Coming Back!

Tonight, Marvel Comics is returning. Greg Rolanti gives the COVID relief, and Tink Girl is back. All that and more on this comic book edition of Multiverse. Tonight. This is episode 75. So we're only 25 episodes away from 100. Yeah. I think life will get back to normal by the time that episode number hits. Yeah. I kinda hope so. I you know, I kinda hope we can, you know, have a guest or two uh for episode 100. Maybe we'll make it an all-guest show. Just need no just need enough guests. Uh spring fever has hit, and uh, you know, we all need something to do, don't we? You know, apparently around here in Kansas it's camping and fishing. Uh I'll be uh kind of a wait and see as people start mingling more if COVID nineteen cases really start to go up and up and up. But the uh stay-at-home order's lifting, things are slowly getting uh back open, and even some comic book stores could open soon. But will they have new comics in stock? Now that's the big question right now. And will we get more news now that things are starting to get moving again? I guess we'll see. Uh let's get on to the news. Let's start with DC. Wonder Woman 1984 might be out so late that the Doritos bags will have changed by the time it hits theaters in August. Go to the stores right now, folks. There are the d the Doritos bags for the movie are already on shelves. So are things for the minion the new minions movie and you know, lava lava things. It's really weird. But now we do have an official rating. Wonder Women Wonder Woman 19 Wonder Woman 84 is rated PG 13 by the Motion Picture Association of America due to sequences of action and violence. Now, of course, it could always be pushed back again. Even stars don't know if they'll make that date. Uh actress Connie Nielsen told ABC News, quote, I don't know about the AUX deadline there. We can all cross fingers, and I sure hope it's so. The invention of a remedy against this virus will certainly make everything a lot easier. Everyone is waiting to get back to work as well. Well we're all waiting to get started on our next projects. So having access to either a vaccine or at least a remedy will be a good thing for us all. Can't uh can't agree more there. Now uh getting on to uh things that are going to be in production. The Batman will see Colin Farrell in facial prosthetics in order to play the penguin. Now, not quite to the level that Danny DeVita was in for the Batman Returns. You know. Maybe a sharp beaked nose. Trouble is, I here's here's here's here's my trouble, folks. I think Colin Farrell should definitely be in a fat suit because you know, a penguin doesn't seem like someone who who you look at and think is a fit person. So you know, I'm hoping they they they at least put him in some sort of you know fat suit with a beaked, hooked nose. Now, getting away from that, uh you have you wanted to watch the DC Universe original animated series, Harley Quinn, but you didn't want to pay for it? Well, the first season will has been airing on uh sci-fi on Sundays in May, starting uh yesterday, this pat or d you know, this past Sunday. It's airing at 11 p.m. Eastern time on uh each Sunday. Season two is currently airing on the DC Universe app. Of course, you see what they're going for there. You watch the you watch that first season for free, the next taste the next one will cost you. Aeroverse producer Greg Brlante has donated a million dollars to coronavirus release relief efforts. Brlante will create a $600,000 emergency assistance fund for those working on Burlante Productions, and $400,000 will go to the SAG AFTRA COVID Relief Fund, the Actors Fund, and the Motion Picture Television Fund Emergency Relief Fund. The Burlante Fund will mainly be for productions that were shut down mid-production, like Batwoman, Doom Patrol, The Flash, Riverdale, The Flight Attendant, Supergirl, and Prodigal Son. And uh that ends the DC news. I told you it's gonna be short. And let's go to the Marvel news. He came out on Instagram live with his co-star, Sarah Wayne Callis. Quote, if I think about why I even got involved in the industry, it was really to combat oppression. I knew how I was affected by the people of color I saw on television, or that I didn't see on television, so this being a married gay man with a family on television, I didn't take anything I do lightly. And you have an opportunity to put an image into millions of homes. I want that image to be honest, and I want it to be correct. Honestly, it required me to show up fully in a way that I don't always when I'm working. I know that I could not portray this gay man honestly without letting you all know that I am gay man myself. I've never done that with the people that I've worked with. That responsibility carried me to do that because I knew how important it is for to other people out there like me who would need to see that role model. Well, sir, I applaud you. It uh will be a while before we get to see Thor, Love and Thunder, but according to Chris Emsworth, it's the best he's read in years. In an interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer, Emsworth said, It's one of the best scripts I've read in years. It's Tyka at his most extreme and at his best. The version I read is the one we're we get running with. It's going to be pretty insane. Maybe Taka should get the Chris to do a guest shot on what we do in the shadows. Now, Thor, Love and Thunder, is currently, I say currently, scheduled for February 11th, 2022. Now, more pushed back movie news. Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness has been pushed all the way from November 5th, 2021, to March 25th, 2022. Now that's the second pushback for that movie, the first time it was pushed back from May to November. The next Spider-Man movie has been moved back from the summer of 2021 to November 5th, 2021. And also moving is another Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse 2, coming going from April 8th, 2022 to October 7th, 2022. Now, of course, your mileage may vary. Now, we I talked about comic books at the start of the show, and Marvel Comics has announced that it will officially be returning to Store Shells on May 27th, but with a very limited group of titles. Now out on the 27th will be Amazing Spider-Man number 43, Avengers, number 33, Marauders, number 10, Star Wars, Dr. Afron number 1, and Venom number 25. Now each Wednesday, uh more stuff will come out. That Wednesday, June 3rd, will be a collection of trade paperbacks, including from Astonishing X-Men, Ghost Rider Volume 1, Sensational She-Hulk, Darth Vader Posterbook, The Amazing Mary Jane Volume 1, and X-Men Volume 1. The week after that, June 10th, we'll see a new issue of Black Cat, Daredevil, Deadpool, Excalibur, Miles Morales Spider-Man, and New Mutants. And Wednesday and the Wednesday after that will be again a collection of trade paperbacks. You kind of see a pattern here, if you will. Now there's uh many more I could uh describe here, but uh I'll leave that in the show notes for you to peruse at your leisure. Now Marvel described this new revised release schedule as quote, a balanced release schedule for its comics and trade collections as the industry continues to restart distribution and comic books be begin to reopen comic book shop re begin to reopen and adapt to the current social distancing policies, unquote. Now they also added that is releasing new comics in the most thoughtful way we we can for fans, creators, and the industry during these unpredictable times, unquote. So, in her words, be prepared to wait, Marvel fans. Now, let's get on with some geek news. Guillermo del Toro is bringing you some scary more scary stories to tell you tell in the dark. Paramount has greenlit the sequel to the 2019 movie based on the short story collection by Alvin Schwartz. Guillermo will write the screen story along with Dan Hegeman and Kevin Hegemann with Andre Ordeval returning to direct the sequel. Tankgirl is back with a brand new publisher. This time, Albatross Funny Books, the publisher of the Goon. Previously, the character has been published at DC Comics, IDW, Image, and Titan Comics. The new series will be called King Tank Girl and will be written by co-creator Alan Martin with art by Brett Parson. According to Eric Powell, the publisher of Albatross Funny Books, quote, Ellen Martin and Brett Parson have been doing some amazing Tank Girl stuff lately, and Brett just did a run of the goon for us. They kind of approached me and were like, hey, we're looking for another home for Tang Girl. Would you be interested? And you know, of course, I was interested because it fits right in with everything we've been doing. It's a character that I think sets be sets be aside all the comics we have very, very nicely. It's official its official launch was planned differently, saying, quote, so this was supposed to be our big announcement that was launching in July, our big comic book push. Comic-Con is now cancelled and we're scrambling to figure to try to figure out when our releases are actually going to happen. But since it's the apocalypse, I thought everybody wouldn't like to know that Tank Girl is coming to Albatross Funny Books. Now King Tank Girl is scheduled for the fall. The and finally, the Hollywood Reporter reports that a follow-up for the upcoming Snake Eyes G.I. Joe Origins is already in the works. The Snake Eyes movie doesn't open until October, but writers Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse are already in negotiations to write the sequel. Now, Snake Eyes is being used to reboot the G.I.
