Tonight. Modok goes on, but Howard Modak does not. Joker, Joker, Joker. And we remember a legendary python. Oh, that and more on this edition of Multiverse. Tonight. And we're your host, Thomas Townley. Hello everyone and welcome to the comics edition of Multiverse Tonight, episode number sixty one. And you know, I thank you for being here. You might not know it, but you help keep me busy, which helps keep me sane. I, like others, suffer from seasonal effective disorder during the winter months, and keeping busy does help keep those depressive feelings at bay. So thank you. Could you do me a favor though? Could you recommend Multiverse Tonight to a friend for me? You you know don't have to shout it from the mountaintops. You know, just one friend, uh someone who you think would like geeky news, print uh you know, printed presented just you know, plain and simple. You know, or uh just retweet if you're on Twitter, do that for me. Yeah just so j just the the little things could could help. And thank you. Now let's get on with the Marvel news. Chris Hemsworth is teaming up with the National Geographic Channel for a new series called Limitless. The series was announced at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour. The series is about superhuman feats. The science series looks at groundbreaking biotech and other ways we can unlock the body's secret superpowers for a longer, better life. Chris Hemsworth said, quote, basically, I was somehow convinced to volunteer myself as a human guinea pig and endure a series of mental and physical challenges across the globe, all for the sake of science. He explained. Production starts soon, so wish me luck. Now there's no word on when this will air, I guess we'll just have to uh you know stay tuned. Marvel has a new X-Men comic coming this April, Children of the Atom, will be a brand new ongoing series by writer Vit Vita Ayela and artist Bernard Ching, and will be bringing a new team book with a new squad of superheroes that will turn the X-Men's world upside down. Now, there are no details about the cast of this book, and uh other than the r other than the fact that it's coming out in April, we don't know much about it, so you know I look forward to uh finding those details soon. Now, here's uh here's an interesting piece for you. Modoc has a new cast. The new Hulu Animates series will star Patton Oswald as the lead role of the mental organism designed only for kill killing, or Modoc, who has been ousted from both his evil organization and his family. Plus, he's suffering from midlife crisis. Now joining Patton will be Amy Garcia as Jody, Mudoc's wife, and the mother of his children, Ben Schwartz, as Lou, Modoc's 12-year-old son, Melissa Fumero as Melissa, Modoc's 17-year-old daughter, Wendy McLedon Covey from the Goldbergs will be Monica, a mad scientist at AIME and Mudok's rival, Beck Bennett as Austin Vandersleet, Mudok's new boss, John Daly as Super Adaptoid, a snarky android with ambitions to live, feel, and create, was instead forced to spend his days massaging the hover chair sores of his creator, Mudok's scalp. And Sam Richardson as Gary, a henchman at AIM who is fiercely loyal to Modoc, even if Modoc struggles to remember his name. Now, executive producer Jordan Blum said about this cast in the press release, quote, I'm blown away by our insanely talented and hilarious voice cast, who have all brought their specific kind of magic to this weird and wonderful corner of the Marvel universe. Now, some sad news. Howard the Duck is dead. Not the character, but the show. This seems to be part of a house cleaning at Marvel Television as it transitions from the care of Jeff Loeb to Kevin Feige. Howard the Duck now joins T uh Tigra and Dazzler on the Death Pile. The other two shows in the in the Hulu Marvel Anime lineup, Modoc and Hitmonkey, are still in the works, and no word on what will happen to the offender's crossover, but that's probably on the on the pile as well. Marvel and Hulu both declined to comment. But you know, he has plenty of irons in the fire, so he'll just roll over and go to his next project. I wish him well in all his future endeavors. Marvel's Iron Man VR game has been delayed a few months from February to May. The game's developer camouflage revealed the delay in a tweet, quote, in order to develop in order to deliver on our vision to meet the high expectations of our amazing community, we've made the difficult decision to move Marvel's Iron Man VR to a May 15, 2020 release. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding. You'll be hearing from us again soon. Now, let's do some quick hits. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has added actor Noah Miles to the cast. Noah is known for roles in NBC's The Enemy Within and The Brave. The series will premiere on Disney Plus in August. Disney has also officially started work on Captain Marvel 2. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the studio has almost locked down Megan McDonnell as a staff writer on Wanda on WandaVision for the move for the most anticipated sequel. But this uh is supposed to take this movie will take place in the present day, and no release date or subtitle has been given for the movie. Now, you'll remember the first Captain Marvel made $1.13 billion worldwide. Now, speaking of Marvel projects that are still in the pipeline, Marvel's Disney's She Disney Plus Plus series She-Hulk will start filming this July in Atlanta according to a production notice. Now let's go over to the DC Comics News. Now we begin DC Comics News with the Joker. Joker has gotten huge nominations from the Oscars, getting nominations for actor in a leading role for Joaquin Phoenix, achievement in cinematography, costume design, directing for Todd Phillips, film editing for Jeff Groth, makeup and hairstyling for Nikki Lederman and Kay Georgeot, original score for Heilder Gottendom, Best Film Sound Editing for Alan Robert Murray, sound mixing and screenplay. Now there were other geeky nominations, but uh you know, those will have to wait till the geek news. Now, an interesting fact has emerged. Joker editor Jeff Groth revealed to Kleider that Bradley Cooper had a hand in editing the film. Quote, we kept this one pretty close to us. We screened it more personally for people and filmmakers. Bradley Cooper definitely came in a couple of times. He was a producer on the movie, but he definitely watched the movie many times and sat with us. He would he he could call we could call him if we got stuck with something to be like, hey, can can you come over and take a look at things? Now if Jeff wins, I think he owes Bradley big, don't you? Now, speaking of the Joker, 2020 marks the character's 80th anniversary. Now, the Joker, the character, debuted in 1940's Batman number one. To celebrate, DC is putting out the Joker 80th anniversary 100-page super spectacular in April. The comic will feature a number of original stories from Denny O'Neill, Scott Snyder, Paul Deaney, Lee Birmejo, Jock, Michael Janon, and current Batman series writer James Tynan IV, all with a cover from former Batman and metal artist Greg Capullo. The release will have variant covers showcasing the Joker's look from each decade, and it will be out on April 29th for the low low price of $9.99. There can be more there will be more than one. HBO's HBO Max's head of original content, Sarah Aubrey, revealed at the TCA press tour that, quote, Greg Brlante said that I can share a few tidbits about Green Lantern. We're in the early stages of talking to him about it, but he did say this that the series so far will span several decades and focus on the original story of two major Green Lantern Smirth while going into the story in space. And Green Lantern favorites character Sinestro, unquote. As to which Green Lanterns those will be, that's unknown right now. Let's just hope they don't make the suit animated. Simpler is always better. Karen Gillian would love to do a DC movie. While the actress was promoting Jumanji, the next level in Brazil, Karen was asked if she had her pick, what comic comic book character would she love to be involved with next? She said, quote, Batgirl would be cool for that as well. My favorite film in that world, my favorite one, is the Dark Knight. I just love the way that one is directed so much. So I would just love to work in that world as a director. Come on, DC, look over this way, end quote. I could see it. The lack of Joker in the new Birds of Prey movie was a choice, according to star and producer Margot Robbie. The actress told comicbook.com at a press event, quote, It was either going to be a complete Harley and Joker story, or Joker has to be out of the picture. I really wanted to see Harley in a girl gang, and I felt there was a huge gap in the market for a girl gang ensemble action film. I felt like no one was doing that, and I couldn't understand why, especially a comic book movie, from the very beginning it was a conscious choice of the of they have to be broken up this stage. I have a whole backstory in my head of what's happened between what you saw at the end of Suicide Squad and what you see at the beginning of Birds of Prey. Birds of Prey and the fantabulous emancipation of one Harley Quinn comes to theaters on February 7th. Now let's go over to the Geek News. Oscar Isaac is set to star in and produce an adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn's Eisener winning award Iser Award winning comic, X Machina, which will be retitled The Great Machine, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The script is being written by Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnell. Oscar will be producing it alongside his manager and producer, Joe Jason Spire. The comic it's based on first came out in 2004 and ran for 50 issues under the Wild Storm imprint, centering on Mitchell Hundred, an ex-superhero with who became mayor of New York after 9-11, Hundred has the power to talk to machines. Oscar Isaac will play Mr. Hundred. Now, ironically, Oscar Isaac was in a movie called Ex Machina a few years ago, and that's why they had to change the name of this movie to the of this show to The Great Machine. Now no release date has been announced. The animation awards, also known as the Annies, have been handed out. Netflix's Klaus has won Best Feature, Best Direction, Best Editorial, Best Production Design for a Feature, Best Storyboarding For Boys Best Storyboarding, Best Career Design Character Design, and Best Character Animation for a Feature. And finally tonight, it's with you know a heavy heart that we acknowledge the passing of a legend of comedy. Monty Python member Terry Jones. He passed away several several years after having contracted a rare form of dementia called frontotemporal dementia, or FTD, that impaired his ability to speak and communicate. He was born in Wales on February first, nineteen forty-two, and he's best known for Monty Python writing and perform writing performing.
