Star Trek Loredex USS Cerritos crew handbook arrives on December 19th 2023. Star Trek Prodigy has been nominated for the Emmy Award, this time for outstanding mixing and sound editing for an animated program. Now the show, which ended its first season and second season, is going to Netflix, will face competition from Batman and Superman, battle of the Supersons I Am Groot, kung Fu Panda, the Dragon Knight and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. While not identified on the Emmy site, the team nominated for Prodigy is Matt Kilmick, brittany Ellis, otis Austin and Tommy Serglu. Now let's go on to the Star Wars news, and Star Wars news begins with also some Emmy nominations, this time Star Wars Young Jedi Adventures. The Lucasfilm animated series for preschool audiences has been honored with five nominations at the second annual Children's and Family Emmy Awards, including outstanding preschool animated series. Outstanding music direction and composition for an animated program. Outstanding main title. Outstanding editing for a preschool animated program. Outstanding sound mixing and sound editing for a preschool animated program. The series, set 200 years before the Phantom Menace and during the High Republic era, will follow Jedi younglings as they cite the ways of the Force, explore the galaxy, help citizens and creatures in need and learn valuable skills needed to become Jedi along the way. In a statement, lucasfilm's senior VP for franchise content and strategy, james Wah, said quote we are honored to be nominated by our peers for five Children's and Family Emmy Awards. Unquote. The team unquote. The team behind this series always believes that the universal myths and aspirational lessons of the Star Wars galaxy could spark the imaginations of even the youngest of audiences, that somehow we could pass back a little of what that awe-inspiring Cinematic Magic that so many of us were shown by George Lucas as we were growing up with Star Wars. We are able to make it a reality in large thanks to Michael Olson, whose heart depth and love for the franchise is found in every frame of the show. We owe these amazing nominations to all our amazing cast and crew who poured their hearts and souls into this project that meant so much to all of us. Thank you, disney Junior, wild Canary icon and everyone at Lucasfilm and, most importantly, to the fans. The Force is strong with you. Unquote. New episodes of the Young Jedi Adventures are now available on Disney Plus and Disney Junior. Let's go on to the Marvel News, and we begin Marvel News with the first trailer for Echo, which arrived this past Friday. The live action series will not only be the franchise's first TVMA showing, but will be also available simultaneously on Disney Plus and Hulu and will be presented under a different banner. In a recent article about Echo, marvel Studios revealed that the series is the inaugural title under the Marvel Spotlight banner. This label will be used on titles that present a wider variety of stories which don't require as much prior knowledge of the MCU. The name Marvel Spotlight originates in the comic books, with the Marvel Comics Anthology series with the same name, which ran across the 70s and 80s and led to many characters debuts. Head of streaming, brad Winterbaum, explained, quote Marvel Spotlight gives us a platform to bring more grounded character-driven stories to the screen. In the case of Echo, focusing on street level stakes over large MCU continuity. Just like comics fans didn't need to read Avengers or Fantastic Four to enjoy a ghostwriter spotlight comic, our audience doesn't need to have seen any of the other Marvel series to understand what's happening in Maya's story. Unquote. Echo will also be Marvel's first Disney Plus series to be read TVMA. So what do you think of the first TVMA Marvel show? Let us know. And with the rebirth and in the comic books, with the rebirth of the Ultimate Universe, marvel will be starting the universe up with Ultimate Spider-Man. The new series, written by Jonathan Hickman and drawn by Marco Chico, will reunite Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson as a married couple. That's not all, though, as the happy couple also pairs to a daughter and a son, and the series teases that Peter Parker's time as Spider-Man starts in a much different place than readers are used to, where Arthur Jonathan Hickman explained. Quote when we decide that we are going to do a book about an older Peter Parker becoming Spider-Man, we really want to lean into him starring his superhero life from a very different place than what's traditionally expected. Peter and MJ being married is one of many decisions we made to underline this as being quite a different kind of Spider-Man story. Ultimate Spider-Man 1 will hit stores on January 10, 2024. Daredevil born again has a new creative team. Dario Scarpa-Scarpain, who wrote and executive produced Netflix's Marvel series the Punisher, will serve as the showrunner for the new Daredevil show, after previous headwriters, Chris Orrd and Matt Coriman, exited amid a major creative overhaul. Orrin Coriman will are still credited as executive producers, though. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who directed on Marvel's Moon Knight and are the lead directors on Loki season 2, will step in to direct the rest of the first season of Daredevil born again and, as part of the show's creative overhaul, marvel also released the previously hired directors for season 1 after production shut down amid the SAG After Strike. Elements of that material that were already shot will be incorporated into the series, but the show overall is meant to head in a brand new direction. So you're taking a show about Blind man in a brand new direction. Make sure he knows where he's going. Taraja Ramses, the stuntman for films like Black Panther and the Avengers, among many others, was killed alongside two of his children in a car crash on Halloween night on an Atlanta road. According to a reporting by local affiliate WSBTV, ramses, who has 94 credits for his work in various departments in TV and films, includes the Hunger Games, kitching Fire, black Panther, avengers Endgame and Avengers Infinity War, among others. Ramses, his 13 year old daughter Sundara and 1 year old daughter Fugabou were killed when their car plowed into a tractor trailer that had broken down on the left lane of an exit road. Two other children were also ejected from the vehicle, leaving his 10 year old son in critical condition and his 3 year old child, who was also hospitalized. A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses and has collected 51,000 as of this past Friday. So you want to give them a helping hand, just go to GoFundMe and look them up. I think they'd appreciate it. It's a very tragic loss. Anyway, let's go to the DC Comics News. Superman and Lois are officially preparing for their final flight on the CW. The network confirmed that the show will be concluding with its 10 episode 4 season, which was greenlit earlier this year. While filming on season 4, superman and Lois has not yet begun due to the strikes. The CW claims that the final episodes will air on the network in 2024. Superman and Lois will be, for the foreseeable future, the final DC TV show to air on the CW, a trend that began way back with Smallville, all the way back in 2001. Yep, there are some of you who have never not known a DC TV show not to be on the air. And if you need something to read while you're waiting for another DC Universe show to ever hit TV again, why not trade paperback? Dc is finding a whole new way for readers to experience their comics. On Thursday, the publisher announced DC Compact Comics, a brand new graphic novel line that will be debuting in 2024. The books will be reprinting best-selling new reader-friendly books to fit into the 5x5x8.5 standard book trim for trade paperback novels. Now the first wave of titles will not only cover adult graphic novels such as Alan Moore and Dave Gibson's Watchmen and Brent Arzellio and Lee Bermejo's Joker, but newer works such as NK Jameson and Jamal Campbell's Farsector. Each title will be available at $9.99 US and will launch in June of 2024. According to Andy Pies, cvp, senior Vice President and General Manager at DC, quote the DC Compact Comics price and sizing is perfect for readers of prose and manga looking to pick up a new reader-friendly storyline in a self-contained full-color graphic novel. This 5.5x8.5 papercut is the most widely circulated softcover book size in the US and is popular among graphic novel affectionados in international markets. At $9.99, it's a great price point for retailers to stock these classic titles. For readers, dc Compact Comics delivers a new graphic novel reading experience that fits in the palm of their hands with no loss of readability". Now what will DC Compact Comics reprint? The first wave includes Watchmen, batman, the Court of Owls, all-star Superman, farsector, wonder Woman, earth One American Vampire Book, One Batman, hush, joker, harley Quinn and Gotham City, sirens and Catwoman, trail of the Catwoman. So this is a good thing a nice portable graphic novel. I know, I know you can get these digitally and put them on your phone, but there's something about actually holding the book and reading through it that just makes the experience so much better. A couple of pieces of admittedly distressed Dark Knight history are headed to auction. That's because Golden, the leading collectibles marketplace, announced is featuring George Clawney's Batman costume from 1997's Batman Robin alongside such the illustrious comic books Fall Time during its Fall Pop Culture Elite auction. One such title is a poor quality copy of Batman no 1, which features the first appearances of the Joker and Catwoman, then named the Cat. Now, with Batnipples and a coverless comic book, some people might be ready to pass on this one, but those are undeniably huge parts of the characters' history. Clawney's Screen Ward costume is the fifth Bat suit to appear in modern cinema, featuring the signature cowl, a full length cape with two clips and a muscle tunic with the Batman Robin version of the Batman emblem on the chest. This Bat suit is constructed from cast foam, latex and vinyl, with resin components, leather and other elements to create a singular suit that was expertly crafted and assembled. Since there are multiples made of each of these suits, it's hard to say where this one was actually seen on screen, but it is most certainly not the one Robert Pattinson auditioned in. In addition to Clawney's suit, goldfinn is offering a roundup of some of the most sought after comic books of all time, including that Batman no 1, but also featuring some pretty impressive books in a lot better shape, including copies of the first appearances of Batman, spider-man, x-men and more, which are available for building bidding, including 1940 DC Comics no 1, amazing Fantasy no 15, x-men no 1, a copy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles published by Mirage Studios with a cover date of 1984, and a lot more. These items are currently available for bidding as part of the Goldfinn Fall Pop Culture Elite auction and will be available through November 18th. Yeah, I don't think I'll be bidding for anything, just saying Anyway, let's go on to the geek news. And geek news begins with HBO renaming Dune the Sisterhood to Dune Prophecy. A source close to production confirmed the name change after reports hit the internet. The show is expected to launch in fall of 2024. Dune Prophecy is HBO's Dune prequel TV series and sets a debut on the Mac streaming service. Production is ongoing in Hungary, despite the ongoing actor strike, because the cast is largely made up of British actors who are members of Equity rather than SAG-AFTRA and won't be striking alongside their American peers. Dune Prophecy underwent creative changes back in March, while also losing its director, along with one of its stars. Dune Part 2, meanwhile, has been pushed back several months, from November 3 of this year to March 15 of next year. The sequel to the 2021 film is set to be one of 2023's major theatrical releases. A bleached partially at issue is the fact that stars Timothy Chalamet and Zendaya are, of course, unable to promote the movie due to the strike. I guess we'll have a long time to ponder what Part 2 is going to be like. I thought Part 1 was okay. Sesame Street is set to undergo some major renovations. The long-running children's series will be getting a creative overhaul for its 56th season, which will debut in 2025. Steve Youngwood, the CEO of Sesame Workshop, in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, said, quote "'With any change, you have evolutions and then you have things that are slightly bigger steps, while still staying core to who we are. We felt like this was a moment to step back and think bigger about how we evolve it" unquote. Now, the most significant change will see the program drop the magazine-style format it's used in favor of two longer, more narrative-driven segments, which will be paired with a new animated series called Tales from One, two, three. The new format will feature two 11-minute story segments with the new animated series sandwiched in between them. Kay Wilson-Stallings, the executive VP and Chief Creative Development and Production Officer for Sesame Workshop, said, quote "'It's going to give us an opportunity to dive further into the narrative'". She also called the changes a reimagining of the show and added that the longer segments will allow for more dynamic and sophisticated stories. The changes are the most significant for Sesame Street since 2016, when the show went from one hour to 30 minutes, although it did keep the magazine-style format and even made the show shorter, with a street scene linked to a letter or number of the day, followed by the Elmo's World animated segment. And there will also be tweaks as well, including having a signature song for every episode. As for the animated series Tales from One, two, three, wilson-stallings says that the series, quote "'For the first time will give viewers an opportunity to go inside One, two, three Sesame Street', which is probably the most famous apartment building in the world, and there, beyond the stoop, is where monsters and humans, fairies and dinosaurs and talking numbers and letters and even food will call home. So this will be a great opportunity for our audience to explore a whole new part in a whole new world of Sesame Street". Now Wilson-Stallings says that the new series would be eventually developed into its own spin-off has been the works for some time, and so right now, sesame Street is nearing the end of a five-year deal with Warner Bros Discovery, which debuts new episodes on its Mac streaming service, and the episodes then air on PBS after nine months. As it happens, sesame Street's current deal ends with season 55, meaning that the new series will coincide with the beginning of a new rights deal. The episodes will debut on whatever channel or platform picks up the show, whether it be Macs or somewhere else. As for the show, it has a 50-year season of episodes, so that's a large library for any streaming service. Now on to some other news. Disney has revealed on this past week that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be available to stream on Disney+ starting December 1st. The film will be exclusive to Disney+, unlike the previous Indiana Jones movies. In addition to Dial of Destiny, disney+, while also adding a feature-length documentary called Timeless Heroes, indiana Jones and Harrison Ford, which will be released that same day. Just a few days after its debut on Disney+, indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be made available to purchase for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and DVD. The physical version of the film will be available on December 5th and comes up with the following special features the making of Indiana Jones and Dial of Destiny, 5 feature-its on the filming of the movie and a score-only version. So I don't know if I'm Having not seen the movie, I don't know if I'd buy the physical version yet, but I would like to actually see it at least once. I'll wait for the streaming version. And meanwhile it's Christmas time, if you haven't been able to tell. Christmas time, of course, means certain TV programming and throughout the 90s a Christmas story became a staple of the holiday season, with fans often having to coordinate the times in which they could catch the movie. Now, the film was such a success, starting in 1997, that the annual 24-hour marathon of the film would be broadcast on TNT from December 24th through the 25th, and then pivoted to TBS in 2004. With the Hollywood season kicking off in the coming weeks, the marathon tradition is set to return, with TNT and TBS having the rights to a number of holiday films, so they will be broadcasting multiple marathons. The coming holiday season will see a network offering of 24-hour marathons of ELF and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. But the marathons won't be limited to Christmas films, as sitcoms like Modern Family, family Marys Friends and the Big Bang Theory will also have marathons of holiday-inspired episodes. According to the press release, tbs and TNT kick off winter break this festive holiday themed episodes throughout November-December. The programming begins on November 4th with Spirit and Movies, jack Frost, fred Claus, the Pull Express, national Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and ELF, which celebrates his 20th anniversary. Before the annual tradition, tbs and TNT will host 24-hour marathons of Christmas Story, elf National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Our classics airing throughout the season include four Christmases Deck the Halls, dr Seuss, howler, grinch Show, christmas 1966, and many more. In addition, the broadcast from years of a Christmas Story Christmas and 8-Bit Christmas will debut this month. So well, deck the hulls, I guess. Anyway, Warner Bros has cast the Immobulus Spell on its Fantastic Beasts franchise. Director David Yates gave an update to the beleaguered franchise, which halted after three of its five planned films were released. Yates told the Inside Film Total podcast, quote Now, yates claimed the entire idea of a five-film franchise wasn't a studio at all. It was initially planned as three films and he suggested the saga's author and Beast Trilogy screenwriter, jk Rowling, made the announcement of a five-film plan without much of the creative team knowing ahead of time, during a media event for the first film back in 2016. Now Yates, who's currently busy promoting a new crime drama called Pain Hustlers, said, quote I haven't spoken to Joe. I haven't spoken to producer David Hyman. I haven't spoken to Warner Bros. We're just taking a pause. It's quite nice because it allows me to do stuff like Pain Hustlers, but I'm sure at some point Central Character Newscarier Mander may well be back. Who can tell? We haven't had any in-depth conversations. Unquote Now. In the meantime, warner Bros has a plan to launch a Harry Potter TV series for Max, which intends to reimagine Rowling's beloved series of novels into a multi-season series with a new cast. Since assuming control of the company last year, warner Bros CEO David Zaslav has repeatedly expressed his desire for more Harry Potter projects. Nobly, he has not called for more Fantastic Beasts. The unquote now. I guess, yep, do we want to see more of a longer version of the books as a series? I guess that's you know. Will it match the series that we've always had in our heads, though? I guess that's the big question. This come now. This next one is sort of interesting. Amazon's acquisition of MGM resulted in Amazon Studios being able to revive a number of beloved properties, with Friday confirming today that the studio is officially moving forward with a TV series revival of Poltergeist Yep, poltergeist. There are currently no confirmed filmmakers attached to the project, nor are there any details about the series plot, though Daryl Frank and Justin Falavy are on board the service of DECK producers. The property was previously connected to Avengers Endgame co-director Joe Russo, who spent years hoping to revive the premise in some capacity, though doesn't appear to be attached to this revival. Stay tuned for updates on the future of the Poltergeist franchise. Poltergeist franchise and spooky Did Warner Brothers get spooked? The studio is looking to scrap its horror film Scythems Lot on Max, according to sources to Warner Brothers Now. Warner Brothers was developing it for a theatrical rollout, but after sitting on the shelf for a year, the Gary Doberman director Stephen King adaptation is poised to make its debut on the streaming platform Max. A source with knowledge of the back and forth says the move is not a reflection of the film's quality but is due to the fact that the ongoing SAG Afterstrike has created a growing need for Max content. Warner Brothers spokesman said quote Scythems Lot is one of a few Warner Brothers films targeted to make the jump. No decision has been made about the film's future distribution plans Now. Scythems Lot was shot in Massachusetts way back in 2021 and was intended as a September 2022 release, with the month proving to be a successful pre-Halloween corridor for the studio. But Warner's pushed the film to spring of 2023, citing code-related post-production delays. Now, earlier this month, scythems Lot quietly moved off the schedule altogether, prompting speculation that would be a Warner Brothers Discovery tax write-off in the vein of last year's Batgirl. The production stars hayaackingrom큐. The production star is Top Gun Mavericks Luz Pullman. The film's cast also includes Mackenzie Lay, bill Pamp, pahlu Azbeck, alfred Woodard and William Sadler. Doverman, who began developing the project back in 2019, wrote the screenplay. James Wan is also producer on the new Salem's Lot by his Atomic Monster, the company behind the Bevy, warren Brothers horror hits from the Conjuring franchise. Staying in the vein of Warner Brothers, warner Bros Discovery announced this week that they will be making changes to add free subscriptions on Macs, the streaming platform that serves as the home for HBO and DC content. The announcement, which impacts both the number of users who can share the accounts as well as the features available, suggests that WBD as a whole wants to move toward a return to ad support TV content, something mirrored elsewhere in the industry with the rise of fast, free ad support TV channels and the inclusion of an ad-supported option on Netflix. The new changes, which will mean that users on the standard ad-free tier at $50,999 a month will no longer be able to stream in 4K beginning on their next billing date. The number of allowable co-current streams will also drop from 3 to 2. These changes were actually announced back when the ultimate tier was introduced in May, but did not formally go into effect yet. This week's email to customers marks a point of no return warning On your next billing date, on or after December 5, 2023,. The price of your subscription will stay the same, but some of your plan features will change. You can stream all your favorite blockbuster movies, fresh originals and iComic series, or even switch to the ultimate ad-free plan to unlock more features. The ultimate ad-free plan, which is an extra $5 a month, will not change at this time. Both plans can be purchased at a discount annual rate, which suggests some users will continue to have their old planned grandfriar in for a while. Don't try to game the system now, though, because your next billing date would likely become today. The ultimate plan also allows for 4 co-current streams, so if your max plan is for family that's pretty active on the platform, that could quickly become the more desirable tier. There's also max ad-light at $9.99 a month, with 2 co-current streams and 1080p resolution, no offline downloads and 5.1 surround sound quality. Max ad-free $0.59 a month, or $104.99 a year, which, as I said, and the ad-free, which is $0.99 a year. Yeah, folks, here's what you do when you get your tax refund just by year of every streaming service you can. That'll be a lot cheaper. Anyway, matthew Perry. Now for our sad news of today. Matthew Perry, star of Friends, has passed away at the age of 54. Matthew Perry, the actor best known for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, died on October 28, 2023. According to law enforcement sources talking to the Los Angeles Times, authorities responded around 4pm to his home where he was discovered unresponsive in his hot tub. The LA Coroner's Office has not established the cause of death yet, but Perry did have a long history of addiction and health problems. Matthew Langford Perry was born on August 19, 1969 in Williamstown, massachusetts. His mother, suzanne Marie, was a Canadian journalist who served as press secretary to Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. His father, john Benet Perry, was an American actor and former model known for the 1971 1991 ABC cop series 240. Robert Benet played the father of Aniston's boyfriend on a 1998 episode of Friends. Now, perry's parents divorced soon after he was born and his mother left Massachusetts and settled in Ottawa. She married Keith Morrison, the journalist best known for Dateline NBC. He began his acting career in the late 1970s, appearing on guest roles on shows such as Second Chance and the Facts of Life and in 1987 moved to Los Angeles to pursue full-time acting. Perry's big break came in 1994 when he was cast as Chandler Bang on Friends. The show became a cultural phenomenon and Perry rose to stardom overnight. He played Chandler Bang for 10 seasons and earned 7 Primetime Emmy Award nominations. With cutting-edge timing and a knack for putting a sarcastic spin on any exchange, chandler was given the show's best punchlines, but his snarky tone, mask and insecurity that also made him one of the most awkward of the group. His un-easiness and vulnerability led to some of the show's funniest moments, as well as some of its most poignant. In addition to his work on Friends, perry also appeared in a number of other films and TV shows, including Seventeen Again, the West Wing Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and the two-and-a-half season revival of the Odd Couple. He also starred in the West End production of the Play that Goes Wrong in 2019. Perry attempted to parlay his film into a feature film career and made his feature debut in 1988, a night in the life of Jimmy Reardon. His most successful effort, however, was perhaps the whole nine yards in 2000, and which he starred as a meek dentist who gets mixed up with the notorious killer for hire, played by Bruce Willis. It grossed more than 100 million worldwide and spawned a 2004 sequel. His other big-screen efforts include Fool's Rush In Almost Heroes, three to Tango and Serving Sarah. Perry was open about his struggles with addiction and depression. He aired rehab for the first time in 1997, and continued to relapse throughout his life. In 2018, he nearly died from a colon rupture caused by opiate abuse and in his 2022 memoir Friends, lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, perry reflected that he had probably spent $9 million or something trying to get sober. Reminding his book, he seemed committed to his sobriety and to helping others suffering from addiction, saying quote your sober date changes, but that's all that changes. You know everything you knew before. As long as you were able to fight your way back without dying, you learn a lot. Unquote. Now, despite his personal struggles, perry remained a beloved figure to fans around the world. He was known for his quick wit and willingness to share his story with others. In a 2002 interview, he said, quote I'm grateful for the life I've had. I'm grateful for the people who have loved me along the way. Unquote. Perry survived by his mother, suzanne Perry, his father, john Benet Perry, his mother, mimos Perry, a private memorial service was held with family and close friends and finally tonight, actor Richard Moll passed away on Thursday as home in Big Bear Lake, california, at the age of 80. The deep voice, six foot eight inch actor is best known for the role of Bailiff Bull Shannon in Night Court, co-starring Harry Anderson and John Lorquette. The aired from 1984 to 1992. Moll was nominated for a Siren Award for the 1985 horror movie House and also voiced the role of Harvey Dent, slash Two-Face on the adventures of Batman, robin, as well as Scorpion on Spireman, the animated series he also had parsed in the Flintstones, jingle All the Way, cast for Me 20 and Scary Movie 2. He also had a recurring role on the sitcom Gang by starring Cindy Williams and voiced the bodyguard in Mighty Max. Moll went on to appear in the 1999 setart by I Am a Cheerleader with Natasha Leon, in which he played a gay man who shepherded teenagers sent to a reeducation camp by parents who suspected they were homosexual. His other tell-it-all appearances included Sabrina, the Teenage Words Witch, 7th Heaven and Smallville, after appearing in the horror movie Nightmare man in 2006, he starred in Thomas Kincaid's Christmas College opposite Pyrrha Tull, marsha Gaye Hardin and Edna Asner, and later appeared in Cold Case and Anchor Management. He also appeared in four TV movies, like no Place for Home and the Headless Horseman. Born in Pasadena on January 3, 1943, richard graduated UC Berkeley and began acting at the Willgear Theatre performing in Works of Shakespeare. The actor was also an avid bird watcher and nature lover and retired to Big Bear Lake. He is survived by his children, chloe and Mason Moll, ex-wife Susan Moll and stepchildren Cassandra Card and Morgan Opsling. Richard Moll dead at the age of 80 years old. He will be missed.
